The Freddie Awards honor the best in Frequent Flyer and Frequent Guest loyalty programs. To qualify to be on the ballot, a program must award customers with miles or points that can then be redeemed for awards such as free flights or free hotel stays. Credit cards can be nominated only if their loyalty program rewards cardholders in miles or points of a specific airline or hotel program that has qualified to be listed on the ballot.
All nominations must relate to offers during 2008.
There are three geographical ballots:
Americas
Europe, Middle East, Africa
Japan, Pacific, Asia, Australia
WHAT WE NEED:
Let us know the ballot(s) in which you would like your program to be featured. Keep in mind that you should only be featured in a ballot where you have a strong membership presence.
There are the same nine categories for each ballot:
- Best Award (Each program was asked to self-nominate in this category. Programs not represented indicate no nomination was received.)
- Best Bonus Promotion (Each program was asked to self-nominate in this category. Programs not represented indicate no nomination was received.)
- Best Affinity Credit Card (Each program was asked to self-nominate in this category. Programs not represented indicate no nomination was received.)
- Best Member Communications
- Best Web Site
- Best Elite-Level Program
- Best Award Redemption
- Best Customer Service
- Program of the Year
WHAT WE NEED:
Of these categories, we need your nominations for Best Award, Best Bonus Promotion and Best Affinity Credit Card. You do not have to nominate in any of these categories, but if you do not nominate, your program will not be listed in these categories.
The rest of the categories: Best Member Communications, Best Web Site, Best Elite-Level Program, Best Award Redemption, Best Customer Service and Program of the Year will automatically be populated with your program name.

Best Award:
Which of the following awards offered the best value and was the most rewarding for the number of miles and points required?
- Only one or two nominations in this category are allowed per geographical ballot.
- Each entry must be 60 words or less written within the body of the email.
- Please do not send attachments, PowerPoint presentations, etc.--60 words or less in an email, along with a note as to which ballot it belongs, is what we need.
Example Best Award nomination:
Fly 2, Get 1 Free. Fly 4, Aloha Hawaii: With this promotion, members could fly two longhaul roundtrips and get an award. They could earn a maximum of two awards during the promotion, which is the number needed for a roundtrip award trip to Hawaii.
Best Bonus Promotion:
Which of the following frequent traveler bonus promotions was most rewarding?
- Only one or two nominations in this category are allowed per geographical ballot.
- Each entry must be 60 words or less written within the body of the email.
- Please do not send attachments, PowerPoint presentations, etc.--60 words or less in an email, along with a note as to which ballot it belongs, is what we need.
Example Best Bonus Promotion nomination:
Members could earn up to 25,000 bonus miles for participating with SkyMiles partners. For every five unique partner transactions, they received 5,000 bonus miles - all the way up to 25,000 bonus miles.
Best Affinity Credit Card:
Which affinity credit or debit card offers the best benefits and opportunities to earn bonus miles or points?
- Up to four nominations in this category are allowed per geographical ballot.
- Send us the complete name of the credit card(s) only along with a note that states in which geographical ballot the credit card should be listed.

The 21st Annual Freddie Awards ceremony will be on Thursday, April 23, 2008 and will once again be held in conjunction with the Spring 2009 FTMA Conference that will run April 22-23. Mark your calendars and check back for more information. This year's award ceremony will be held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on April 23, 2009 at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Airport.
